Introducing Hanmi Authenticator: Enhanced Digital Security for Business Banking

Hanmi Authenticator is a mobile authentication solution that leverages biometric verification, such as fingerprint and facial recognition, to secure login and payment processes. The new feature offers a more advanced and secure method of authentication, serving as an enhanced alternative to the Secure Access Code (SAC).

The Hanmi Authenticator is an optional feature, currently available to business banking customers only. This new feature is recommended, but not required.  The Bank has plans to roll out to personal banking customers at a later date.

How Does It Work?

The Hanmi Authenticator works by linking a trusted device to the customer’s account through a quick and easy registration process. Once registered, customers receive instant push notifications on their mobile devices for login attempts, high-risk transactions, and other important actions. These notifications require biometric approval, ensuring that only the account owner can authorize these actions.

For example, if a customer tries to log in to their online banking account or make a wire transfer, they will receive a push notification on their linked device asking them to approve or deny the action using their biometric data. This process not only enhances security but also provides full control and transparency for the customer, as they can see key details before approving any action.

The Hanmi Authenticator offers several benefits to our customers:

• Enhanced Security: By tying access to a specific trusted device and using biometric verification, the Hanmi Authenticator significantly reduces the risk of fraud, phishing, and cyberattacks. It ensures that only the account owner can authorize transactions and access their account.
• Convenience: The quick and easy enrollment process, along with instant push notifications, makes banking more convenient. Customers no longer have to wait for SACs to be delivered via email, voice, or text message; instead, they can approve actions instantly using their mobile devices.
• Reduced Fraud: The Hanmi Authenticator reduces fraud by ensuring that high-risk actions require user approval via push notifications. This ties access to a specific trusted device and eliminates the need for SACs, which can be compromised.
• Fewer Password Resets: With the Hanmi Authenticator, customers will experience fewer issues related to password resets and SACs, leading to a smoother and more secure banking experience.
