What information or documentation is needed to apply for a new checking account?

To apply for a new checking account, you’ll need your Social Security number, one valid form of primary identification (driver’s license, valid passport, government-issued ID with photo and signature), and minimum required opening deposit (amount varies depending on type of account).

How do I waive monthly maintenance charge?

Monthly maintenance charge of $7 can be waived if you maintain a minimum balance of $500 or average daily balance of $1,000 in each statement cycle or have a minimum of $500 in ACH or Direct Deposit made into the account each statement cycle.

What can I expect after my account is opened online?

After you have completed the application, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided during the application process.

  • Debit/ATM Card: If you open a checking account, your Hanmi Debit/ATM card will be mailed to you within 5-7 business days once the account is funded. The card must be activated by phone with your PIN before using.
